Recall that kidnappers had on October 15 killed Ayuba Chashe and abducted his two children at Yebu community in Kwali Area Council.

According to Daily Trust, a neighbour of one of the victims, simply identified as Yahaya, said the gunmen who are carrying sophisticated weapons came through the bush path and first broke into the house of Murtala.

Yahaya said some of the gunmen surrounded the house, as other members of the gang entered the house and whisked their target away at gun point.

“Actually, they didn’t shoot because the house of the victim is just some few meters away from the police station,” he said. He said the gunmen proceeded to the next victim’s house, Yusuf Ibrahim, at senior staff opposite a private school to kidnap the victim.

According to him, the gunmen scaled through the fence of the second victim’s house and used a sledged hammer to force the door open and whisked him away.

The reports further gathered that one of the victims, Yusuf is a classroom teacher at a primary school in the area.

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, confirmed the latest kidnap to newsmen on Thursday morning.

Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manza, according to reports did not yield any results as he did not pick calls put across to him as at the time of filling this report.

However, Bala Ciroma, FCT Commissioner of police recently revealed that the command has started community policing to ensure that criminals do not have any hiding place in the city.

Also, on October 7, 2019, at least nine persons including a 12 year old boy and an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps were kidnapped in Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

In April this year, the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) board, Muhammed Mahmood was kidnapped alongside his daughter along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway. Mahmood and his daughter were kidnapped by unknown gunmen who reportedly ambushed their vehicle.

The FCT police command had also in September debunked reports of rampant kidnappings and assured residents of their safety at all times.
