FERMA To Spend N89m On Rehabilitation Of Federal Roads In Kebbi

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on Monday, announced that it will be spending about N89 million on the rehabilitation of five federal roads in Kebbi.

The agency’s Maintenance Engineer, Mr Imoh Ufot revealed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi.

Ufot who said that all the roads would be rehabilitated through direct labour, to ensure strict compliance to standards added that already, N7 million has been spent on the rehabilitation of Argungu- Bui and phase one of Jega- Koko- Yauri roads.

Ufot said, “FERMA will spend N4 million to rehabilitate the phase two of the Jega- Koko- Yauri road to the border with Niger republic.

“The direct labour rehabilitation is cost effective considering that N14. 5 million would have been spent on the same project through contract.

“We will also commence washout work along Rijau- Zuru- Zamfara border road estimated to gulp N27 million,’’ he said.

The official added that emergency road rehabilitation of Rijau- Wasagu- Riba road would be executed at the cost of N22 million while N29 million would be used to rehabilitate the right lane of Malando- Ngaski- Warra road.

Ufot said that prompt release of the funds for the projects would fast track the rehabilitation works and curtail traffic accidents.
