Feud: Arsene Wenger Refuses To Allow Jose Mourinho Sit Next To Him

The pair attended the meeting with several other top European coaches which was overseen by Sir Alex Ferguson during the just concluded FIFA international break.

According to MARCA.com, Jose Mourinho arrived late for the conference and saw an available seat opposite Paris Saint-Germain manager, Unai Emery and Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane which was next to Wenger.

The Portuguese then asked Wenger if he could occupy the space, Wenger replied “No, it isn’t possible,” provoking laughs from the other coaches in the room.

The incident is the latest in the pair’s long-standing spat, which dates back to Mourinho’s first spell in English football at Chelsea.

Both managers have had a long term feud between each other with Mourinho labeling Wenger a ‘voyeur’ in October 2005 after the Arsenal boss criticized his style of play and in February 2014, he described Wenger as a “specialist in failure” after the Arsenal manager accused him of being afraid to lose.

Wenger shoved Mourinho during a high-tempered contest at Stamford Bridge in October 2015.

At his first press conference as Manchester United manager in June this year, Mourinho appeared to throw a shade at Wenger.

He said: “There are some managers, the last time they won a title was 10 years ago, the last time I won was a year ago.

“I feel I have to prove – not to the others – to myself. I will never be able to work without success. That’s my nature.

“If I have something to prove, imagine the others! To finish 4th is not the aim.”

Manchester United play Arsenal for the first time this season on 19 November at Old Trafford, with Mourinho boasting a record of having never lost a Premier league game to Wenger.
