FG Targets 1000-Bed Isolation Centre In Abuja

Isolation and treatment centres with capacity to accommodate one thousand patients is to be established in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja

Minister of State, Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora stated this on Tuesday during a news conference in Abuja.

According to Mamora, the proposed centres would be located in Agura hotel, DSS guest house, Women Development Centre and This Day Dome, all in the FCT.

The minister said, in preparation for the possible surge in the numbers of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, these locations would serve as isolation and treatment centres.

The capital city has the second highest number of cases of the disease, with over 25 positive cases, after Lagos State which has the highest number.

The country, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 135 cases of COVID-19, with two deaths.

The pandemic has been recorded in 11 states and the FCT.
