FG Targets Speedy Implementation Of Digital Technology Project

The Federal Government has said it would ensure a speedy implementation of the digital technology project.

Nigeria targets to achieve a full digital economy status by 2025. The project was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari  in 2019.

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said that the different sectors and institutions in the country need to integrate their technologies ahead of the 2025 digital technology target.

The Minister said this during a speech at the 25th  Annual Conference of Certified National Accountants, held virtually.

The theme for the conference was ‘Disruptive Technologies and Innovation: The Place of the Accountant.’

The conference was held by the national accounting body to adopt the use of technology in the execution of accounting principles.

Pantami said, “People seeing this theme can think this is some digital economy conference. As we develop the digital economy of Nigeria, all sectors must embrace it and integrate technology into their activities.”

The minister urged Nigerian accounting practitioners to adopt the relevant emerging technologies in the accounting profession.

Pantami stated that the  accounting profession has huge prospects with emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics and Ed-Tech.

The National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy has been developed to reposition the Nigerian Economy in order to take advantage of the many opportunities that digital technologies provide.

The Nigerian Government has been pushing the Digital Economy in a bid to create growth and diversify economic productivity in the nation.
