FG To Create More Jobs Through Gas Penetration – Sylva

The Federal Government has reiterated its readiness to create employment for Nigerian youth and encourage a conducive atmosphere for wealth creation through adequate attention to the nation’s natural resources particularly gas.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva speaking at the South-East Gas Utilization Forum organized by the Gas Aggregated Company of Nigeria in Owerri, Imo State said the forum is in line with President Buhari’s mandate to create jobs, grow the economy, and take Nigerians out of poverty using domestically available natural resources.

“The gathering is in line with the vision of His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari to create jobs, grow the economy, and take Nigerians out of poverty using domestically available natural resources particularly the country’s abundant gas endowment,” he said.

He stated that, since the inauguration of the National Gas Expansion Programme Committee on January 16, 2020 to date, enormous achievements have been recorded with plans for Gas Penetration Roll-out soon.

According to the Minister, the South East geopolitical zone has a vital role to play in the nation’s efforts to shift attention from fossil fuels through the opportunities available in gas utilization.

While assuring that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Agencies under it will continue to work with all stakeholders to improve natural gas utilization in the country, he expressed optimism that the gathering will set out practical steps to ensure the realization of the gas-energy requirements of the South Eastern states and Nigeria as a whole in due time.

The host Governor, Hope Uzodinma, in his remark expressed gratitude on the choice of Imo to host the event.

He stated that the gas sector is receiving huge attention at the moment because of its importance in the acceleration of industrialization, economic growth as well as cost effective energy solutions and environmentally friendly attributes.
