FIFA Ranking: Nigeria Move Up One Place As Brazil Regains Top Spot

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up one place from 39 to 38 in the latest FIFA Ranking for the month of August released on Thursday.

Despite their 2-0 home defeat to South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Gernot Rohr’s men still climbed up to the 38th position in the rankings.

Nigeria is tied at 38th place with Greece, with 716 points.

The three-time African champions remain 6th in Africa behind Egypt (25), Congo DR (28), Senegal (31), Tunisia (34) Cameroon (35), Nigeria (38), Algeria (48), Ghana (50), Cote d’Ivoire (54), Morocco (60).

The Indomitable Lions, Super Eagles’ opponents in next month 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier moved a place up – 35th in the world and fifth in Africa.

In World Ranking, Brazil reclaimed the top spot, to become the number one country in world football.

World Champions Germany falls to second place with Argentina, Switzerland and Poland making up the top five.
European champions Portugal, Chile, Colombia, Belgium and France make up the top 10.
