FIFA Ranking: Nigeria Moves Up Four Places

Gernot Rohr’s men are placed 60th in the World, but are eleventh in Africa.

Nigeria’s improved ranking came as a result of their 2-1 victory against Zambia in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier played in Ndola earlier this month.

On the continent, reigning AFCON champions Côte d’Ivoire are ranked first, followed by Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Ghana, Egypt, Congo DR, Congo, Mail and Cameroon.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles’ opponent in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Algeria, are unmoved to rank no. 35 in the world and third in Africa, while Cameroon and Zambia are 59th and 94th respectively.

Globally, Argentina maintained their number one position while world champions, Germany, moved up one spot to second, Brazil, Belgium and Colombia are ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.

The next ranking will be published on 24 November 2016.
