Fire Guts Truck On Lagos Bridge

A containerised truck was engulfed in flames on Ojota Bridge, Lagos, near the Old Toll Gate, on Wednesday.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were promptly alerted, and emergency responders are currently at the scene.

Firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control, while the LASTMA Rescue and Recovery Team oversees vehicle removal and traffic management.

A high-capacity tow truck has also been deployed to aid in clearing the scene.

LASTMA stated that traffic flow has not been significantly affected, but motorists are advised to drive cautiously and follow the directives of officials.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow traffic directives from LASTMA officials.

“We will provide further updates as the situation develops. In the meantime, please prioritise your safety and the safety of others on the road,” LASTMA said on X.

As of the time of filing this report, it was unclear if there were any casualties.

THE WHISTLER reports that this incident occurred barely 24 hours after a BRT bus was gutted by fire on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday.

The affected vehicle, identified by code number 240057, was reportedly en route to Oshodi from Obalende when it suddenly caught fire near the Adekunle axis of the bridge.

Despite the swift intervention of good Samaritans and emergency responders, the bus was completely consumed by the blaze. However, no casualties or injuries were recorded.
