First Class Graduate, 400 Level Student Shot Dead In Nasarawa

Some gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have reportedly killed two students of the Federal University Lafia, Nasarrawa State, on Wednesday.

According to Guardian, the students were sitting outside the students’ village at Mararaba-Akunza at about 10:30 pm yesterday, when the armed men opened fire on them.

One of the students killed had graduated with a first class from the Economics department of the institution and was said to be processing his final clearance while the other was a 400 level English student.

The public relations officer of the university, Abubakar Ibrahim, said the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Sanusi-Liman, expressed sympathy with the families of the deceased over the tragedy.

The management of the institution is reported to have declared a day of mourning in honour of the fallen students.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP John Kennedy, who confirmed the incident, said the remains of their body has been deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, while investigations into the matter had commenced.
