‘First Was Ambode, Now Obaseki, Akeredolu Next’ – Reactions As APC Disqualifies Edo Governor

Reactions have trailed the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Edo governorship race by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.

The APC disqualified Obaseki on the grounds that he allegedly failed to produce his Senior School Leaving Certificate before its screening committee.

Some Nigerians have since taken to Twitter to express mixed views about the ruling party’s decision.

THE WHISTLER reports that following Obaseki’s disqualification, the name of former Lagos Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, started trending at number two spot on the micro-blogging platform.

Some Twitter users claimed that Obaseki was kicked out of the Edo governorship race the way Ambode was denied a second term as Lagos governor after failing to secure the support of APC leaders ahead of party’s primaries.

“First was Ambode, now Obaseki, and Akeredolu of Ondo state is next. The far reaching powers of Tinubu and Oshiomole have reverberated throughout nigeria but too much power brings an ultimate Fall. The days of these two tyrants are numbered and their fall will be massive,” said one of the Twitter users, @githuh5
