Five Inmates Of Ikoyi Prison Die From Electrocution

Five inmates at the Ikoyi prison, Lagos on Monday lost their lives after they were electrocuted to death.

THE WHISTLER learnt that the incident, which happened in one of the cells also left ten others seriously injured.

The cause of the electrocution is not known at the time of filing this report.

Also, there has not been any official reaction yet.

Recall that a similar incident had happened in April 2018 when an inmate of the Ikoyi prison, one Kabiru Adeyemi, who was standing trial at the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court 5 in Lagos, reportedly slumped and died.

Reports say Ikoyi Prison is one of Nigeria’s oldest and largest correctional facilities, holding thousands of inmates.
