Facing Revolt By Party Men, Buhari Jets To London For Two Weeks

President Muhammadu Buhari, will on Friday, travel to London to begin another round of vacation.

This was contained in a statement made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on Wednesday.

Recall that the President Muhammadu Buhari led-All Progressives Congress, APC was recently hit with a wave of defections.

No lesser than 50 lawmakers from the senate and the House of Representatives recently dumped the ruling party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Shortly after that, the party received a shocking blow from Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, who dumped the party for the PDP, claiming that he was issued a red card from the party.

In another shocking move, the senate president Bukola Saraki and Kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, announced their defection from the APC.

Barely a day after, the party was greeted with the decision of the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, to defect to the PDP.

Tambuwal, said the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s incompetence and failure to deliver on campaign promises was the core reason for his defection.

Meanwhile, Adesina’s statement noted that Buhari would be away from the country for 10 working days.

The statement added that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be in acting capacity during the President’s absence.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari begins a 10 working days holiday from August 3, 2018.

“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, a letter has been transmitted to the President of the Senate, and the Speaker, House of Representatives to that effect.

“While the President is on vacation, the Vice President will be in acting capacity as President.

“President Buhari will be in London for the holiday.”
