Foundation Disburses N50m To Cushion Gov El-Rufai’s Tuition Fee Hike

A foundation, LA Cares Foundation, has concluded the disbursement of the third batch of its N50m donation to cushion the effects of the recent hike in tuition fees imposed by the Kaduna State government on students of its university.

The foundation is funded by Lawal Adamu Usman, the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Kaduna Central during the 2019 elections.

Our correspondent gathered that the foundation had pledged an initial sum of N50m to ease the pains caused parents and students by the hike.

Usman’s special media consultant, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, told THE WHISTLER, Sunday, that the beneficiaries began the collection of their original receipts at the foundation’s office on 5th November, 2021.

Adamu had in a post made available to our correspondent stated that, “The foundation intends to conclude the final disbursement of the N50m for the 2020/21 academic session within the next week.

“We hope that beneficiaries will no longer suffer the trauma and fear of inability to pay tuition fees. I thank God Almighty for giving us this opportunity to be of service to humanity.

“My prayer as always is to have our institutions incubate good men and women of integrity who will be self engineered.”

It was gathered that Gov El-Rufa’i recently reviewed the tuition fees for the state university from N24, 000 and N26, 000 to N150, 000 and N500, 000 for natives and non-natives respectively.

Some of the beneficiaries, Abdulruaf Abubakar, Ummulkhairi Babajo Sani and Jeremiah Andrew, expressed gratitude to the foundation for coming to their assistance.
