Four Arrested For Impersonation During JAMB Examination In Anambra

Four persons were arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Marticulation Examination in Anambra State.

According to the public relations officer of the corps in the state, Edwin Okadigbo, the special operatives of the corps arrested one “Ikechukwu Chinonso  ‘m’, aged 19, from Okpobe Village, Umuomaku, Orumba South LGA of the same, but resides at Udoka  Housing Estates, Awka. He was arrested  at Igbariam CBT centre for impersonation.

 “On the same day, at about 11:00hrs, one Ayachebelu Izuchukwu, 27, of Umunnabo Alor in Idemili South LGA, was also arrested at the same centre for impersonation.

“Also, on the 17/03/2020,  at about 09:07hrs, the command arrested one Anaekwe Paul of Omor in Ayamelum LGA, aged 22, ‘m’, at CKC Centre in Onitsha for impersonation; same date at about 13:04 hrs, one Ogbonna Juliet, aged 23, ‘f’, of Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State was arrested at Michael Tansi Secondary School, Aguleri, Anambra East LGA of Anambra State for impersonation.”

Okadigbo told THE WHISTLER on Wednesday in Awka that the suspects had made voluntary confessional statements to the NSCDC and admitted to impersonation.

He revealed that the suspects had gained access into the centres but were discovered by operatives at the centres. He said the suspects also pleaded for forgiveness while blaming the crime on the devil.

He added that the state commandant of the NSCDC, David Bille, had ordered discreet investigations after which the suspects would be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others.
