#FreeSowore: Civil Society Group Stages Protest At Unity Fountain In Abuja

Following the arrest of activist and online Publisher Of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services, DSS over his ‘Revolution Now’ protest, a coalition of civil society organizations today staged a protest at Unity Fountain, Abuja.

The protesters carried placards with captions such as #FreeSowore #FreeDadiyata #FreeStevenKefas #FreeJonesAbiri, They demanded the release of the four activists who have been held in detention by the DSS under the President Muhammadu Buhari regime.

Recall  that the Abuja division of the Federal High court had on August 8 granted the application by the  DSS to detain Sowore for a period of 45 days.

Recall also that Sowore was arrested on Saturday, August 3, 2019, 2019 in Lagos by the secret service. He was subsequently moved to Abuja.

The DSS had on August 6, 2019 filed an application before the high court, seeking to detain Sowore, convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, for 90 days.
