FRSC Boss Sanctions Officers Seen In Viral Video Maltreating Motorist

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the entire patrol Team involved in the maltreatment of a female motorist on Wednesday, calling the action unprofessional and uncivil.

The Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, who gave the directive in reaction to the trending video of the incident, also directed that the entire team be queried and sanctioned in accordance with FRSC relevant regulations on discipline.

In the trending video, the patrol team of the corps was seen chasing a vehicle with a policeman on the bonnet of the car, in an apparent move to stop the driver who was said to have violated the lockdown order.

In the video, the team, after the driver of the vehicle, a woman had been stopped, launched at her, destroying the car plate number and manhandling her.

A statement issued by the Corps Commander, Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, said the action of the officers involved in the episode was completely contrary to the core values and operational ethics of the corps.

According to the statement, after a careful study and analysis of the video and what transpired in it, the Corps said proactive measures had been taken.

Part of the statement read: “That the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the entire FRSC Team involved in the unprofessional and uncivil act.

“That the action of the Officers involved in that episode is completely contrary to the Core Values and Operational Ethics of the Corps and the Corps frowns at it .

“That the Corps Marshal has directed that the entire team be queried and sanctioned in accordance with FRSC relevant regulations on discipline.”

The statement called on the public to remain calm and comply with all directives on stay at home and social distance and ensure that they cooperate with security operatives detailed to enforce the presidential lockdown orders.
