There are indications that Nigerians may soon face fuel scarcity following the industrial action embarked upon by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria.

The leadership of the Association who decried the government’s breach of agreement on the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System to its members on Sunday directed the immediate withdrawal of services.

The Association had earlier vowed to withdraw their services over government’s failure to pay arrears of 22 months owed their members working with Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

In a letter issued to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the association had issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to urgently address the situation among others.

The association in a letter signed by its general Secretary, Lumumba Ighotemu Okugbawa, said that upon expiration of 7-day ultimatum to the Federal government, nothing concrete was done with respect to the outstanding issues as enumerated in the letter.

It said, “With the expiration of the ultimatum and with subsequent extension, you are hereby advised to withdraw your services effective 12 midnight on sunday, November 8 2020.

“Please ensure that your Branch member fully comply with this directive while you await further directive.”

“All zonal offices are to monitor compliance and report same to the National Secretariat”.

However, Okugbawa in a chat with THE WHISTLER on monday said that efforts are ongoing to ensure strict compliance to the directive issued to its members.
