Funke Olakunri: Armed Robbers, Not Herdsmen, Killed Afenifere Leader’s Daughter – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the killing of 58-year-old daughter of the Chairman of the Afenifere group, Reuben Fasoranti, by suspected herdsmen on Friday.

Buhari however said he was informed that Mrs Funke Olakunri was killed by suspected armed robbers and not herdsmen as being reported in the media.

Reacting through his media adviser, Femi Adesina, the President said he “condoles with Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, whose daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin was killed along Ondo-Ore road by those described as armed robbers by Ondo Police Command. He prays God to give Pa Fasoranti fortitude to bear the loss.”

Buhari’s reaction to the incident is coming after the Afenifere group said eyewitness accounts indicate that Mrs Olakunri was killed along the Ondo-Ore by suspected herdsmen.

“We have confirmed the death of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin (58), daughter of our leader, Chief Fasoranti,” said Afenifere’s spokes, Mr Yinka Odumakin.

“Eyewitness accounts say she died of gunshots from Fulani herdsmen who shot her at Ore junction in Ondo State earlier today.”
