Ganduje Bans Kano Residents From Plying Same Tricycles With Opposite Sex 

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has banned residents of the state from boarding same commercial tricycles with the opposite sex.

Ganduje, who announced this on Wednesday, said the ban will take effect from January 2020.

The governor made the announcement at the closing ceremony of 77th annual Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) organised by the Muslim Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Zone A, held at Bayero University, Kano.

Ganduje was represented at the event by the Commander General of Hisbah Board, Harun Ibn-Sina.

The governor said the move was aimed at upholding Islamic values in the state.

A former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, was said to have introduced tricycles in the state as a means of transportation for women only, but eventually came into use by both men and women.
