Ganduje Gets Vote Of Confidence From APC NASS Kano Caucus

Members of the Kano State All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly, on Thursday, passed a vote of confidence on their State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The federal lawmakers, who maintained that their promise to deliver five million votes to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential election still stands, however, evaded questions on the Ganduje bribe videos that have been circulating the social media.

Led by Senator Kabiru Gaya, the legislators said that the Governor’s performance since he assumed the mantle of leadership nearly four years ago has shocked so many political observers.

“Ganduje, who came into office when a lot of factors seemed terribly against the tide of performance for any state chief executive, especially the factor of economic downturn typified by the huge slide in the size of federal allocations accruable to the states, shocked many with his outstanding achievements in the various sectors ranging from infrastructural development to human capital development among others.

“The governor, who hit the ground running immediately after he assumed office, proved bookmakers wrong with the speed with which he initiated and completed projects in the State. He also continued and completed so many high profile projects initiated by his predecessors, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau. He had the option of either abandoning or jettisoning those projects initiated by his predecessors, but he chose the noble path of a statesman by retaining and completing them. Indeed, Kano State is presently a massive construction site,” Gaya read from a statement signed by 14 lawmakers.

Gaya, who stated that the leadership of Ganduje has brought unprecedented socio-economic development to Kano State such as never experienced, added that the Governor’s footprints are boldly and clearly evident in roads, education, health, rural development and human capital development.

He claimed that the recent Kano Mega Rally was an attestation of Ganduje’s performance in office, adding that the unmistakable glaring signal is that the people of Kano State have spoken with one voice in support of his good works by identifying with him.

“Unfortunately, this outstanding performance of the Governor has not gone down well with the opposition, who are busy trying every tricks in the books to discredit and tarnish the image of this highly rated governor, apparently to slow him down and also distort electoral projections for the re-election of Ganduje and Mr. President having seen Kano as a fertile ground for the electoral success of President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.

He expressed unhappiness that there are certain moles in the corridors of power, who are more interested in their own personal ambition rather than the collective success of the Buhari administration have keyed into this devilish scheme not only to undermine Ganduje, but also to throw spanners into the electoral fortunes of Buhari.

“These moles are empty vessels and ‘bad belle’ politicians, who played little or no role in the election of Mr. President in Kano State before Mr. President through his magnanimity brought them on board, but are now capitalising on that privilege by trying to harm the interests of Mr. President and the APC government in Kano State. They are shameless masters in general art of promotion of selfish agenda over and above the collective interests of APC and Mr. President, through stealth deceit and treachery,” he said.

He advised Buhari to be wary of the moles, and warned the moles to desist from their treacherous actions forthwith.

“They (moles) should be wise to understand that any evil scheme designed by the opposition and supported by them, if allowed to foster, will not only affect His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, but Mr. President in the forthcoming elections,” he warned.

Gaya, who maintained that Ganduje has performed creditably well in the saddle of leadership in the State, added that, “(He) has, therefore, earned our unalloyed support and vote of confidence. We, hereby, enjoin him not to be distracted by the agents of darkness, but to keep up the good works he is doing in Kano State.

“No amount of blackmail and subterfuge can obliterate the excellent work that His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has done and is still doing in Kano State. All hands must, therefore, be on deck to support Governor Ganduje to win his re-election in 2019 in order to continue his good works in the State.

“Finally, we call on the opposition and their selfish collaborators in our government to desist from towing the devilish path of character assassination and outright falsehood and embrace issue-based campaigns as we approach the 2019 general elections.”

While adding to the statement, Hon. Alhassan Doguwa reinstated an earlier promise of the Kano State APC to raise five million votes for Buhari.

“What we came here to do is a statement of solidarity by members of the National Assembly caucus of Kano State APC to stand by our Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and President Muhammadu Buhari. We made a promise to give Mr. President five million votes in the 2019 Presidential election. We will surpass that, by God’s grace,” Doguwa said.

When asked to confirm, if their main problem was the opposition, Doguwa quipped, “Opposition is not a problem for us in Kano. Kano State is 100 percent APC. It is only Kwankwasiyaa (Kwankwaso) that is fighting, and he is an empty shell, as far as Kano State is concerned.”

When asked to speak on the issue of the video showing Ganduje in a $5 million bribery, they evaded the question.

“We cannot speak on any issue that is in the court,” Gaya evaded.

“It is sub juice. It is already before the court, and we can’t speak about it,” Doguwa added.
