Ganduje, Shekarau Rift Gets Messier As ‘100 Thugs’ Raze Campaign Office In Kano

Amidst the political tussle between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and ex-governor Ibrahim Shekarau, suspected political thugs have razed the campaign office of Senator Barau Jibrin in Kano State.

This is coming about 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja recognized the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction led by Shekarau as the authentic APC bloc in the state.

Senator Jibrin, who is said to be aspiring for the state’s governorship seat in 2023, belongs to the APC faction that secured the court victory against the Ganduje faction.

The FCT court had voided the APC ward congresses conducted by the Ganduje faction in July and upheld the ones conducted by the bloc led by Shekarau and Sha’aban Sharadaas, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Security and Intelligence.

Thugs attack Senator Barau Jibrin’s campaign office in Kano

More than 100 suspected political thugs attacked Jibrin’s campaign office in the aftermath of the court ruling, reports BBC Hausa.

Analysts believe that APC’s current political crisis in Kano may pose a major setback for the party in the state and North West region at large.
