Germany Set To Deport 12,000 Nigerians

This was disclosed by the Germany’s global head of programme, migration and development, Ralf Sanftenberg, during a visit to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on foreign affairs and Diaspora.

Sanftenberg disclosed that the 12, 000 Nigerians who may face deportation next year are mostly asylum seekers.

“We have over 37,000 Nigerians in Germany and more than 12,000 of them are asylum seekers. There is a little chance for their applications to be moved and they may be forced to come back to Nigeria next year,” he said.

Sanftenberg, who was on site assessment of Nigerians returning voluntarily, added that the German government is considering deporting the asylum seekers because Nigeria is not among countries facing wars.
