Gov Otti: We Will Take Aba From ‘Dirtiest City’ To ‘Cleanest’

Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, is poised for a major transformation under Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

Gov Otti has pledged to scrub the city clean, aiming to turn it into the cleanest city in Nigeria.

The city is renowned for its vibrant markets, especially the Ariaria International Market, one of the largest markets in West Africa. Aba’s thriving manufacturing base encompasses a wide range of products, from textiles and pharmaceuticals to plastics and metalware. However, despite its economic significance, Aba has also grappled with waste management challenges.

Speaking on Sunday after a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) headquarters in Aba, Otti outlined his vision for the city.

The Governor highlighted the ongoing road rehabilitation and drainage system improvements as key components of his plan. He emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness, and urged residents to play their part.

“I want Aba to be sparkling clean,” Otti declared. “We don’t want the reputation of being the dirtiest city anymore. Things have changed for good.”

He announced plans to provide waste bins and sanitation vehicles to address waste management issues. Otti expressed confidence in the people of Aba, acknowledging their intelligence and recognizing their continued support for his administration.

“Aba people understand what I stand for, they know my vision for Abia State, which is why they’ve consistently supported me. As someone born and educated in Aba, I consider myself a true Aba boy. I’ve always won their support since I began campaigning to lead Abia in 2015,” Otti stated.

Otti concluded by inviting residents to join him in expressing gratitude for his administration’s achievements and future plans. He reiterated his commitment to serving the people and living up to their expectations.

This initiative to revitalize Aba goes beyond just aesthetics. A clean Aba not only improves the quality of life for its residents but also presents a more attractive image for businesses and investors. Dr. Otti’s plan, if successful, could solidify Aba’s position as a leading commercial center in Nigeria.
