Gov. Udom Fires Akwa United FC Board, Appoints Replacement

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has dissolved the board and management of Akwa United FC of Uyo.

It was gathered that the governor’s decision to fire the former board chairman, Mr. Nse Ube and his crew was as a result of the team’s poor performance and their shocking elimination from the CAF Confederations Cup in the hands of Congolese club, Vita Club Mukanda of Point Noire on Saturday in Uyo.

The team needed only a draw to get to the next stage, but lost out on penalty with aggregate score standing at 7-6 in favour of the visitors, after recording a 1-0 away win against the Congolese outfit.
