Gov Ugwuanyi Commends Nigerian Army For Urban Water Project

The governor said the project, aside improving the water supply in the barracks, would also serve the neighbouring parts of the city.

Governor Ugwuanyi stated this when he inspected an ongoing water project being constructed by the Nigerian Army, 82 Division, Enugu. He said his administration’s quest for adequate water supply in the city and beyond had been delayed by obsolete and frequent equipment malfunction at major water installations, erosion and other environmental factors.

According to Gov Ugwuanyi, “It is regrettable that despite the progress that have been made so far, government’s efforts to significantly boost water supply in Enugu state are still being hindered by a number of factors, including the fragile conditions of some existing water projects and facilities in the state as well as the unavailability of funds to attend to some of them.”

Gov Ugwuanyi, while acknowledging that Enugu metropolis has expanded in size and population beyond the capacity of the city’s hitherto water supply plan, hinted that his administration was ever ready to collaborate with agencies to ensure that water supply challenges in Enugu were solved.

The general officer commanding the division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, said the division embarked on the project to ease the water scarcity in the barracks and its environs. He sought the collaboration of the state government for its success.
