Gov Ugwuanyi To Emerge First ‘Unanimous’ Igbo President – Ugwunze

“Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is a real man of God. Everything he does is perfect…I have never met a man as perfect as he is…I foresee a situation where he will emerge by a unanimous agreement as the first Igbo president of this nation…” these were the words of Dr Olisaemeka Ugwunze who in an interview extolled the virtues of the governor for “fishing him out” as the transition committee chairman of Igboeze north LGA of Enugu state.

About three months down the line, how do you rate your performance in office?
No good man blows his trumpet. Your eyes and ears should be my trumpet. It is not in my character to tell people that I did this or I did that. Move around, listen to the people – the bourgeoisie, proletariats, and balance what they say. Then you know where I am coming from. You will understand the better truth from the proletariat out there, and not the people who probably might have expected one or two things for their selfish reasons. You get it better from the proletariats who do not expect anything, and if they get anything, they give glory to God.

What were the challenges you met on assumption of office?
One of them is that we heard that the council had graders; there were tippers meant for the local government and that there were bulldozers also meant for the local government area and so on. I got here to meet none of such. I sought to know their whereabouts, and some were telling me some were parked along one road or the other. I did call professional mechanics to check those heavy-duty machines. Some of them were grounded for over three years, some more than that. As I speak with you, those machines are working perfectly on the streets of Igboeze north LGA. What I am saying is subject to your further investigations.

I can direct you to the roads they are currently working on. My greatest desire should be what I will do to get down to those people who do not have advocators; those people who nobody speaks for them. I want them to feel this current administration; to know that there is a government existing in Igboeze north LGA, and not some bunch of men gathering to share common resources when allocations come. After that, they disappear. People around will tell you that before now, you do not see most of the workers in this local government. But since my emergence, the workers have been on their toes for one thing or the other because if they are not getting money, they are getting some knowledge of a man who is supposed to lead. This is the much I can say regarding that.

What is your philosophy of politics?
Whatever thing you find anybody doing, if you want to understand better, go through who the person is. I can remember those days in the university, our lecturer would say ‘this man is a man’. Going to school as far as I am concerned is not for anything, but to broaden one’s scope of reasoning, so that one can attend to issues widely. I think I have been applying that in virtually all the things I do in life. It has also landed me here.

You recently commissioned an ultra-modern restaurant in the council headquarters; gave the secretariat a look, refurbished the toilet facilities, including fixing overhead tanks; made the revenue office more pragmatic, boosted the security in the council, fixed bad roads, and above all, embarked on a state-of-the-arts pavilion in the council headquarters, how did you achieve this feat in so short a time?
There is a spirit behind the reason why His Excellency Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi fished me out of Lagos to come and lead the people of Igboeze north LGA. Yes there are thousands of people here that he could have appointed, but he chose me. I must tell you God in heaven knows why. I am not just saying this to just pour encomiums on His Excellency. Gov Ugwuanyi is a real man of God.

Everything he does is perfect. If you think he has done anything bad to you today, wait for some time, and you will see why he did that. I have never met a man as perfect as he is. Everything he does is like arranged from the heaven. Just point at one wrong thing he has done so far. That is why when they start talking about 2019, my word to them is: ‘remember what the word of God said, “touch not my anointed. Do my prophet no harm”.’ Attempts to obstruct Gov Ugwuanyi by any force will be ready for the recompense. The Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi matter is not prepared today. It is not by accident; he is ordained for that position. I foresee a situation where he will emerge by a unanimous agreement as the first Igbo president of this nation. This is a prophetic statement.

What we are talking about transcends normal discussions. It is more of a spiritual discussion, and I mean everything I say. He does not make mistakes. If you remember the way he emerged, the most acceptable by all in the whole of Enugu state as governor, you realise what I am talking about. Most of us pitied him, thinking that he would not meet the challenges of people that earnestly yearned for him. How he would manage to make them happy? But to my greatest shocker, till tomorrow, he is still in good terms with every person. The magic is indescribable. He came into the government when there was not money. But he is performing as if there is boom. I don’t know how he is performing that magic. If it were not ordained from the above, he would have failed. Did they not try him during the recent local government elections in the state? But you see how he flawed them. He is a great man that I continue to thank God for making me know. Any day he says hello to anyone, my brother, it is a bunch of blessings.

What message do you have for the workers of your local government, and indeed the entire people of the council?
To the entire workers of Igboeze north LGA, my message is: if anybody comes in here and thinks it is going to be business as usual, they should all march to the governor and tell him. This is because people should feel that they have a leader who feels the way they are feeling. I urge all workers within the local government area to make sure that if you are not ready to work, resign honourably from work. If you are ready to work, go to your places of work Monday to Friday. If you can’t, resign so that we can move ahead with the people who are ready to work. If you finish using godfathers to protect yourselves in having jobs in the local government, and living in Lagos or Abuja, a day will come when the bell will ring. You won’t have a godfather there. We are all answerable to all our works. None shall be sparred, and that is where the truth is supreme. Out there, no lies, and even when you want to lie, truth will be coming out of your mouth. Any uncharitable act is a boomerang. It could delay, but surely it will boomerang. If you don’t get paid here, you will definitely get the payment someday and somewhere.

Soon, your tenure will elapse. Will you be satisfied with your stewardship of just about three months?
Why will I not feel satisfied? I feel so satisfied because all the days of my life I will be addressed as mayor. We have over 5, 000 persons down here, and they all wish to be. But I tell you that less than one percent of that 5, 000 will answer mayor in their lifetime. Why am I not happy? All the glory, honour, thanksgiving and dominion should be ascribed to the most high regarding this. As far as I am concerned, I am happy. If they say ‘pack out today’, I give God the glory for the opportunity given to me through Gov Ugwuanyi. I am a business man before coming here.
