Gov Yahaya Bello Blasts Lawmakers For Booing Buhari At National Assembly

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has lampooned members of National Assembly for humiliating President Muhammadu Buhari during his presentation of the 2019 budget on Wednesday.

President Buhari was taunted by lawmakers believed to belong to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he appear before a joint session of the upper and lower legislative chambers to make his presentation of the proposed 2019 Appropriation Bill.

The President’s presentation was interrupted several times by some of the lawmakers who made remarks like “It’s a lie” “Propaganda” “campaign speech” in disapproval of some points made by the President on the achievements of his administration.

But reacting, Governor Bello described the lawmakers as children who lacked proper upbringing by their parents.

“Like I said sometimes back that when you have a child that is not well trained by his parents, he will constitute a menace to the society. And that is what we witnessed today at the National Assembly,” the governor said.

“National Assemblies are supposed to be made of men and women of character and integrity. We’ve seen those who constitute such class of human being today and those that constitute menace to the society in the National Assembly today.

“But above all, I thank God and thank Mr President for a wonderful presentation of 2019 Budget estimates and which we all believe will take Nigeria to the next level by the grace of God,” Bello told State House correspondents after a Gala night organised by beneficiaries of the federal government’s Anchor Borrowers Scheme at the Banquet hall of the presidential villa in Abuja.

At the peak of the jeering during his presentation, President Buhari had paused and said, “May I appeal to the honourable members that the world is watching us… we’re supposed to be above this.”
