Govs Who Violated Airport Protocols May Be ‘Prosecuted’ – Aviation Minister

The federal government has reacted to the alleged violation of airport protocols by former Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, Governor Fintiri of Adamawa state, among others.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had disclosed that the duo breached covid-19 health protocols at respective airports in Kano and Portharcourt

Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation, in a Covid-19 Taskforce press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, assured that the matter would be investigated and that if found wanting, they would be prosecuted.

“Those are being investigate, if it is found that it is true then we will do the needful.

“But if found it is not true, then we will apologize,” Sirika said.

Furthermore, he explained that an unruly behavior at the airport means fighting, disobedience of lawful instructions, among others.

“And an unruly passenger behavior requires the punishment of criminal referral of not less than 2 months.

“We will refer you to police and would ensure that they prosecute you,” he explained.

Meanwhile, he urged everyone to conduct themselves properly at the airport.

“Show your VIP personality with the manner you conduct yourself in and airports,” he said.
