Nigerian afrobeat superstars, Ayodeji Ibrahim ‘Wizkid’ Balogun, and Damini ‘Burna Boy’ Ogulu, amongst other artist in the world, have been nominated for the 2021 ‘Best International Act’ (BET) Awards.
This was announced by Best International Act via their official Instagram page.

@Headieone (UK), @WizKidayo (Nigeria), @YoungTandBugsey (UK) and @Youssouphamusik (France). Let’s watch the 2021 #BETAwards, culture’s biggest night, together on Sunday June 27 8/7c!” The post reads.

Wizkid in 2012 won the BET award when the category had two divisions for Africa and the UK.
Burna Boy on the other hand won the “Best International Act” category at the 2019 and 2020 BET Awards.
Burna Boy and Wizkid are up for ‘Best International Act’ for the 2021 edition,along with Aya Nakamura (France), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (UK), Young T & Bugsey (UK) and Youssoupha (France).
Recall THE WHISTLER had reported that Wizkid won the “Best Music Video” and Burna Boy won the “Best Global Music Album” at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
In 2020, Wizkid also won the “BET HER” Award for “Brown Skin Girl.”
