Growing Poverty, Unemployment ‘Will Put Us All In Serious Trouble’- Dangote
Chairman of Dangote Group of companies Aliko Dangote, has said that the increasing reports of insecurity in the country is fuelled by the high rate of unemployment in the country.
The business man represented by the Executive Director, Stakeholders Management and Corporate Communications of the group, Mansur Ahmed, said in Abuja that the country is currently in crisis because unemployment rate is massive.
According to him, if measures are not taken to change the poverty narrative in the country then “we’ll all be in serious trouble.”
“We believe that insecurity is direct consequence for poverty. When there’s poverty, there’s likely to be insecurity. When there’s insecurity, it tends to make poverty situation worse. So, we’ve to address this issue and I believe that all of us, at every level, have a role to play.”
Dangote has severally reiterated that the number of unemployed youths in Nigeria is a cause for worry, and gives him sleepless nights.
He however called on all Nigerians especially the private sector to work towards growing the economy.
