Gunmen Abduct Passengers Along Ilesa-Akure Expressway

Gunmen have abducted some passengers along the Ilesa-Akure Expressway in Osun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the passengers were abducted around 10pm on Sunday.

Although the number of the passengers abducted could not be asertained, sources said the incident happened between Erin Ijesa and Omo Ijesa in the Ori-Ade Local Government Area of the state.

However, more details of the incident were not immediately available as at the time of filing this report .

The Commandant, Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinbi (retd.), who confirmed the incident said operatives of the corps had been deployed in the area to comb the bushes for the victims and their abductors.

Adewinbi, however, said it was not clear how many of the passengers had been abducted.

But the Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, said two people were abducted by the gunmen. She added that one of the victims had been rescued.
