Gunmen Kill Policeman, Abduct Chinese Contractor In Ekiti

Some gunmen have killed a policeman attached to Chinese contractors handling the construction of the new Ado-Iyin road in Ekiti State.

The gunmen were said to have opened fire on one of the Chinese contractors and kidnapped another one.

Sources said the incident happened at about 4:30pm on Friday at the construction site.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident to journalists said the police have started combing the bushes in search of the hoodlums.

The PPRO said, “It’s confirmed that a kidnap incident occurred at about 4:30pm along the new Ado-Iyin road, where one civilian was kidnapped, one was shot, while one policeman was shot dead.

“Our men are already combing the forest to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.”
