Hit-And-Run Driver Kills One In Anambra

A hit-and-run driver, Friday, killed a yet-to-be-identified male adult who was crossing the road by Aroma, opposite UBA Plc, Awka, in Anambra State. The accident occurred around 3:20pm.

According to an eye witness, the victim was taken to Amaku Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. His body was deposited at the mortuary of the hospital.

In another development, a Toyota Sienna bus with registration number UKP107LH and a Topstar motorcycle with registration number NSH206VC collided at Eke Nnokwa road, Nnewi, Friday. The cause of the accident was over-speeding, according to an eye witness.

The sector public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, RC Florence Edor, told our correspondent in Awka that, “Two male adults were involved in the crash. One male adult sustained injuries, and was rushed to Nnokwa General Hospital. No death was recorded.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State Command, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, has warned drivers to avoid over-speeding, especially in built-up areas. He also advised pedestrians to be watchful while crossing roads.
