Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Woman In Anambra, FRSC Retrieves Corpse

A hit-and-run driver, Tuesday morning, killed a yet-to-be identified woman along Onitsha-Awka expressway in Anambra State.

Our correspondent reports that the accident accurred at about 0920hrs when the victim was crossing the road opposite Toronto Hospital, Onitsha.

An eyewitness said the vehicle was on top speed, and the driver drove off after knocking the victim down. She was rushed to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, by the FRSC rescue team from Upper Iweka Outpost, where she was confirmed dead.

“Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue after the confirmation by the doctor,” according to the acting public enlightenment officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, RC Kamal Musa.

Meanwhile, the sector commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, while condoling with the family of the deceased, warned pedestrians to always make use of pedestrian bridges where available, and observe traffic drills before crossing roads. He further called on motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits as stipulated by law in built-up areas.
