In a series of tweets on its Twitter handle, the house said there was the need to investigate the circumstances that played out in the court.

Operatives of the DSS had on December 6 allegedly invaded the court premises and arrested Sowore after the secret service had a day before released him following the 24-hour ultimatum given to the service by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu for his release.

He was arrested on August 3 with the charge with treasonable felony by the federal government.

According to Elumelu, people in the court had claimed that the unknown persons were DSS and expressed worry that the DSS is seen to be contravening the provisions of separation of power.

However, the DSS in its explanation of what transpired accused Sowore and his lawyer of staging the court drama, adding that no DSS officials could be seen in the video of the court invasion circulating on social media.

In his reaction, Speaker of the house, Femi Gbajabiamila commended the motion as being higly critical and stressed the need for the individuals behind the issue to be identified.

The motion was voted on and referred to the Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Judiciary and Human rights.
