How Buhari Set A Bad Record In Nigeria’s History – Saraki

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has claimed that the Muhmmadu Buhari administration made unprincipled history when it “locked up an arm of government” a week ago.

Saraki, in an interview with international financial daily, Bloomberg, decried last Wednesday’s siege laid to the National Assembly by some hood-wearing operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Even though the widely condemned incident led to the sack of DSS DG, Mr Lawal Daura by Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President holds the view that the Senate invasion was a rape on the country’s democracy by the Buhari government.

Saraki said, “If a government can go and lock up an arm of government — and it’s never happened in our history — we should all be very concerned.”

Expressing concerns that the Buhari government may use the police and military against the opposition in 2019, Saraki said: “We should not be surprised that they would use security agencies for elections.”

The Senate President, in the Bloomberg interview, equally revealed that he was consulting widely on whether or not to run against the president in the 2019 presidential election which comes up in February 2019.
