The Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday explained how it uncovered an attempt by serving and retired civil servants to steal N4.5 billion from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

In a statement issued by Tony Opuiyo, DSS said those involved include one include Sunny Okoh, a hacker who worked with Uwem Ekpo, Chief Program Analyst in the OAGF, Maxwell Eken, a retired security operative, and Dozie Egwu who still remains at large.~

They intended to hack the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System which is located in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).

According to the statement, the successful foiling of the theft has avoided what would have been a huge embarrassment to the Federal Government.

Opuiyo stated that the suspects have been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“This Service wishes to state that it will continue to deploy every means necessary within its statutory mandate, and ambit of the law to ensure the security and safety of all law-abiding residents and citizens wherever they reside,” he added.
