THE WHISTLER reported that the deceased was killed by assailants who dragged him out of his Mercedes Benz jeep and shot him at close range by the roadside.

He later died at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu.

A video of how he was killed had since gone viral.

The state commissioner of police, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has launched a full-scale manhunt for the yet-to-be-identified gunmen, who equally carted away the deceased’s vehicle, according to the state police PPRO, ASP Daniel Ndukwe.

ASP Ndukwe also confirmed that the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.

Media reports say Justice Nnaji was a judge of the Enugu State High Court before being dismissed over his alleged role in the removal of Governor Chris Ngige, the then governor of Anambra State in 2007, through a questionable ex-parte order.
