How Kidnappers Released Former Bayelsa Speaker’s Wife
The kidnapped wife of former acting governor of Bayelsa State, Martha Nestor Binabo, has been released after a ransom of N8.2 million was paid to her kidnappers.
The 48 years woman, abducted on June 29, was freed on Sunday.
A family source who pleaded anonymity said that Ms Binabo was handed over to a negotiator at Buguma area of Rivers in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the source, the woman was freed due to her family’s compliance with the kidnappers warning not to involve the police.
The source also said that the kidnappers gave their victim a sum of N18, 000 for transport fare and a big fish when she was released. They reportedly told their victim to prepare pepper soup for her husband with the fish.
It was gathered that a ransom of N8.2 million was paid to secure her freedom.

Confirming the development, spokesperson of Bayelsa State Police Command, Astimin Butswat, said the command is yet to get full details on her release.
Ms Binabo was kidnapped by armed men dressed in military uniform. The gunmen were said to have lured their victim outside her company’s gate for a talk only to force her into a waiting car, then drove towards Otuokpoti sand dump in ogbia LGA.
The Toyota Camry Car was thereafter set ablaze, after which they took the victim into a waiting speedboat and sped off to an unknown destination.
The victim’s husband was Speaker of the Bayelsa House of Assembly. He acted as governor from January 27 to February 14, 2012, following the vacuum created by the ouster of former Governor Timipre Sylva. He handed over to the current governor, Seriake Dickson.
