How Nigeria Earned 2.5bn From Urine In Q1 2019

A report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which was released on Tuesday shows that Nigeria earned 2.5bn from exporting Urea in Q1 2019.

Urea is a colourless crystalline compound which is the main nitrogenous breakdown product of protein metabolism in mammals and is excreted in urine.

In 2015, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) re-stated its policy to develop 13 national strategic export products including agro-industrial palm oil, cocoa, cashew, auto parts and urea.

Urea export from Nigeria increased from 18,950 tonnes in 2010 to 230,573 tonnes in 2016 growing at an average annual rate of 476.71 %.

However, the commodity which is widely used in the agricultural industry as an animal feed additive and fertilizer, according to NBS commodity price indices, generated 2.5bn between January to April, 2019, for the country.
