HP Unveils New Omen Series With New Desktop And Laptops

In a bid to revive its gaming portfolio, HP on Thursday announced a new range of ‘Omen’ series – HP’s umbrella for all of its hardcore game-centric devices.

The Omen series will feature laptops, desktops, and accessories targeted across different price ranges.

The company retained the slim, portable and generally attractive aesthetic of previous models.

The company has introduced two Omen laptops of 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch display sizes (with weights starting at 4.6- and 6.28 pounds, respectively). They offer up to sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processors, Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M graphics, 16GB of RAM, and up to 4TB of HDD or 128GB of SSHD storage.

They’re identical black notebooks with dragon red highlights, according to HP — around each key and on the lid. HP’s logo only shows up on the inside; instead, the back of the laptops display a strange red diamond.

The 15.6-inch 1080p display is priced at $899.99, while the larger one – 17.3-inch 1080p display – goes for about $979.99. Both models will hit the market on July 10.

Both of these models can also be updated to include a 4K display, up to 16 GB of DDR4 memory, and up to 512 GB of PCIe SSD storage or 4 TB HDD + 128 GB SSD combo.

Meanwhile, the Omen Desktop, is set to arrive in August, with up to an Intel Core i7-6700K processors, 32GB of RAM and 3TB of HDD storage.

Gamers who buy the Omen desktop will also be able to choose between NVIDIA GTX 1080 Founder Edition and AMD Radeon R9 390X graphics. Liquid cooling will also be an option, as will a 512 GB SSD.

It’s a quad-HD display, which means it packs in a 2,560 x 1440 pixel resolution. There’s no pricing for the Omen monitor yet, unfortunately.

HP is clearly positioning the Desktop as one of its biggest pushes into the growing world of gaming. Doing so means having to compete with DIY builders and many other existing and respected gaming brands.
