Humanity Is Of No Importance Without Women – Obuah

Bro Felix Obuah, chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, says humanity would have been of no importance without the role women play in the society.

Obuah made this declaration in a goodwill message on Sunday to appreciate and congratulate the women on this year’s International Women’s Day and Mothers’ Day Celebrations.

He said women should be respected and protected as special and indispensable without whom humanity cannot be sustained.

Obuah used the opportunity to congratulate Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike for giving women a pride of place in his administration, with a woman as Deputy Governor and a good number of women as commissioners and aides.

The PDP State chairman expressed optimism that given the gender-sensitiveness of Wike, women can confidently measure up with their men counterparts in the State and may even assume the highest political office of the land in no distant future.

Bro Obuah, however, noted that the best and surest means of actualizing this hope is to rally round the Rivers governor who has sufficiently demonstrated his respect and pre-disposition to women by appointing women to higher and enviable positions in his administration including women as State Chief judge, President of Customary Court of Appeal and a host of other appointments.

The State PDP boss enjoined mothers to guard their position jealously by rejecting gossips, propaganda and blackmails by self-seeking politicians who are intimidated by the rising political profile of the governor’s landmark achievements and exemplary leadership.

“The incumbent administration under the watch of our multiple award winning governor, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Wike (Mr Projects) will not relent in letting you have your well-deserved position in the economic and socio-political life of our God-blessed State,” Obuah was quoted as saying by Jerry Needam, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

“For those who have a contrary view, it’s only unfortunate. Our women and mothers have paid their dues and must be rewarded accordingly.

“This is the position of Gov Wike-led government, nothing more, nothing less.

“May the good Lord grant you peace, love and all your heart desires as you mark this year’s International Women’s Day and Mothers’ Day Celebrations.”
