Husband Arrested After Wife Slumped, Died During Heated Argument

A resident of Joado street in the Ajah area of Lagos State, David Idibie, has been arrested for allegedly causing the death of his wife, Juliana, by neglecting her after she slumped and sustained a severe head injury while they were having a heated argument.

The couple was reportedly arguing about an undisclosed matrimonial issue when Juliana slumped and died at their residence at about 10 pm on Tuesday.

The deceased’s husband reportedly neglected his wife in her pool of blood after she slumped, an action said to have led to the 42-year-old’s death.

The incident was reported to the Langbasa Police Division in Ajah, after which operatives of the police division arrested Idibie and evacuated his wife’s corpse to the mortuary.

Speaking in a statement on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, condemned the act and vowed to work with other relevant government agencies and non-Governmental bodies to tackle domestic violence to a standstill in the state.

The state’s Police Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who signed the statement, said Odumosu had ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation.

While reiterating zero tolerance for crimes and criminality, especially domestic violence, Odumosu admonished couples to always resolve their differences and conflicts with decorum and maturity as the law will not spear anyone who kills his or her spouse.

The police commissioner, therefore, commiserated with the family and friends of the deceased, while pledging  to make sure justice wa done in the case.
