‘I Didn’t Take Photograph With Maina’, Buhari Reacts To Controversial Photo

The presidency has reacted to a photograph which has gone viral on the social media, showing President Muhammadu Buhari with embattled former Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina.

Maina was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in 2015 over an alleged N2bn fraud. He recently returned to the country and was secretly recalled into the Federal Civil Service.

Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Tuesday, clarified that the individual mistaken for Maina was Ado Doguwa, the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State.

Shehu, in a statement via his twitter page said, “DISCLAIMER: There is a photograph all over the Social Media of President @MBuhari, Senate President @bukolasaraki and Hon. Ado Garba Doguwa Alhassan being mistaken to be the embattled ex-chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

“Hon. Doguwa represented the Speaker of the House of Representatives at the special Jummat prayers to mark the nation’s 57th year anniversary at the Presidential Villa weeks ago”.
