Buhari, on Wednesday, conveyed his suspension through a statement issued by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Femi Adesina.
The SGF was suspended over allegations of violations of law and due process on the award of contract under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
Lawal was in a meeting with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as at the time of the announcement of his suspension.

While coming out of the meeting, he told State House correspondents that he was not aware of his suspension, requesting to know who authored the statement announcing it.
