How I Was Used By OBJ To Ruin Atiku, Makarfi’s Presidential Bids – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has claimed ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo used him to attack his political enemies when the latter was in power.

Fayose told ‘The Interview’ that Obasanjo used him to ruin the presidential bids of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi.

The governor equally mentioned Orji Uzor Kalu as one of the political enemy ex-President Obasanjo used him to harass.

Fayose said not until he travelled with Obasanjo to Libya to see Muammar Ghaddafi, did he lose respect for the former president.

The governor narrated that Obasanjo, who had gone to plead with Ghaddafi to support his third term bid, was treated like a “like a serf” in Tripoli.

“It was such a pathetic scenario, so shameful. Obasanjo was speaking rapidly like a parrot. I was shocked beyond words. I never knew Obasanjo would be that humble,” Fayose told ‘The Interview’ editor-in-chief, Azu Ishiekwene.

“He was on one knee till the end of the conversation. Ghadaffi kept quiet and was just watching Obasanjo. When Obasanjo stopped rambling, Ghadaffi said, ‘Have you finished? Just know that I will not attend that meeting. I have other engagements,” said Governor Fayose.

Speaking on how he had attempted to correct his steps by getting Atiku to stop Obasanjo’s third term bid, Fayose said the former president found out and said to him: “When you capture a general and you don’t kill him, he’ll come back and kill you; that since Atiku tried to stop him and failed, he must pay for it. And he (Atiku) is still paying for it.”

Fayose, in the latest edition of ‘The Interview’, also revealed that he had warned Orji Uzor Kalu against “selling the Igbo for cheap politics”.
