Idris Wada Emerges Winner Of Kogi PDP Governorship Primaries

Kogi state Incumbent governor, Idris Wada has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, slated for November 21.

He will be facing his main contender, the candidate of the APC, Abubakar Audu who is a former governor of the state.

Announcing the results, the returning officer, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State who said the primaries was free, fair and credible, declared Wada winner.

Wada scored 709 votes to beat his closest challenger, Isa Echoho, who got 139 votes in the primary election.

Amoto Banjo didn’t record a single vote. 10 invalid votes were also recorded.

Wada won in 20 out of the 21 Local Government Areas in the state, losing only in Yagba West.

Yagba West is the Local Government of origin of Echocho’s agent and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sunday Karimi.

In his acceptance speech, Gov. Wada thanked the delegates for their firm belief in his transformation agenda, urging them to work even harder to ensure the party is victorious in the November 21 governorship election.

He said, “Today’s victory is dedicated to all Kogi people who have been supporting our modest contribution to the development of the state. I congratulate my brothers who contested with me. Together, we shall give PDP a resounding victory on November 21.″

Also speaking, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Arc Abayomi Awoniyi who thanked the delegates for speaking with one voice, congratulated Alh. Jibrin Echocho for his magnanimity.

He said, “While the delegates have given victory to all PDP members, our brother, Alh. Isah Jibrin Echocho has shown that he loves this great party. I want to assure all that we will work together as one.”
