Ighalo Hints Super Eagles Return

Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Jude Ighalo, has hinted of a possible return to the national team.

Ighalo quit the Super Eagles after the 2019 African Cup of Nation’s in Egypt where he emerged the highest goal scorer in the tournament with five goals to his credit and a bronze medal.

The 30- year -old disclosed this during a radio chat with Brila Fm on Thursday evening, saying he was still in contact with coach Gernot Rohr and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Chairman, Amaju Melvin Pinnick.

“I am still in contact with Gernot Rohr and Amaju Pinnick, and they congratulated me on my loan deal.

“I am still thinking about returning to the national team, but right now I want to concentrate on my club career.

“I left the national team because of the distance between Nigeria and China, but now that I am in Manchester, and just like life and in my career, you never can tell.”

Ighalo so far has 35 caps for the Super Eagles with 16 goals to his credit before retiring.

Ighalo recently extended his loan deal with Manchester United that would see him feature for the old Trafford side till January 2021.
