The IGP also reiterated that roadblocks remain prohibited in the country. He asked heads of commands to ensure the enforcement and key into the road patrol strategy as an alternative to roadblocks.

Baba also suspended the issuance of spy number plates.

The directive is believed to be part of measures by the Nigerian Police Force to curtail the menace of insecurity across the country.

Speaking on the recent incarceration of high-profile criminals, Baba said the suspects comprised members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) kidnappers and bandits.

According to him, the suspects had confessed to committing some of the most heinous crimes in recent times.

Baba’s meeting with the officers is the first since he was confirmed the substantive IGP and it aimed at ensuring senior police officers inculcate discipline in their various commands.

The police chief was confirmed IGP by the police council last week after his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.
